230 - Another shot from the York Resident Festival at the weekend, and here a view of St William's College that I've never seen before.
I've included a shot before of the exterior roadside view of this building ( http://365project.org/if1/365/2012-07-20) and included a brief history with that shot, but here we have the quadrangle, viewed from one of the rooms on the upper level. Several of the large upstairs rooms and halls were open to the public for the weekend, including the room from which this shot was taken.
The College is currently used by York Minster with education rooms for school visits, a restaurant and a variety of meeting rooms which can be hired by other organisations. My only previous look at the interior was at a business meeting some years ago when Nestle board members presented annual results figures to York based managers in the largest room here.
Marvellous capture of a fantastic building, one can almost visualise the scene when it was first built and used to educate priests. Looks like a great restoration job. Fav
Fun shot! What a treat to see the private side of such a building. Really appreciate the link to the exterior shot -- what a gorgeous place! Love the idea of the York Resident festival!
Thank you all for your kind words, and a particular thank you to those kind enough to fav this shot.
Looking at this building it's easy to understand why it is Grade 1 listed
