some of you may remember my post of my wedding dress....it has been transformed by this wonderful lady. I didn't count the number of Angel gowns (made for infants who don't survive after birth.) she made from my dress but I would guess about 15 or more. They will be donated to local hospitals who give them to the families in need. Joy has made over 1000 gowns herself to date. the varying sizes of the gowns are because some are full term and some are very premature when the moms give birth. They add special trim for both boys and girls although most of the time it is just the lace or ruffles from the original dress. My heart is full knowing that my dress went to good use : )
What a beautiful thing to do with your dress. It must make a difference to those sorrowing parents to be able to dress their little one in such a lovely gown.
@lisamccloskey@ethelperry thanks for the nice comments it was my pleasure to share...I was so touched when she told me she was bringing them to show me. One angel gown she brought was made from the wedding dress of another church member whose gown was from 1928! not sure who donated it (daughter or granddaughter) but how special!
I just love the stories you share on here, Jackie. You always have something inspiring to say. I'm very touched by the donation of your wedding gown, and I particularly love the little boy gowns with bow ties. Such a lovely concept.
@hayleymolloycook thanks Haley. sometimes I worry I share too much : ) these gowns are sweet and the parents are very happy to receive them at such a difficult time @boatpainter it was so nice of Joy to bring them to show us. she knew it meant a lot to those who donated and it is a rare opportunity to see the gowns that are made from your actual dress. so many are given and I don't think that you would actually know which were from your gown so I feel honored that she would do that for us.
