this angel sat atop a metal tomb of sorts that had niches on each side to hold cremated remains...I have never seen one of these before. it looked to have 5 or 6 individual niches. this is a very small cemetery and had such a large variety of monuments and stones and stories. one that revealed itself today was of a 21 year old man who gave his life in Vietnam. he stayed to make sure the artillery was in place while the rest of his platoon was able to retreat safely and lost his life doing so. my heart ached for his parents. his story was recounted on a very large stone. it had to be 5 feet tall and had the story etched in it.
