Jackie, re the vintage lens on my Willow photo . There is no loss of quality using the lens. The adapter is just bit of calibrated metal ring with a Sony E mount on one end and a M42 mount on the other end (the helios has an m42 mount) . I set my ISO on my camera, turn the camera to aperture priority, set the aperture on the lens, then manually focus using the lens. Manually focussing is easy with focus peaking. There are no electronic contacts on the lens, everything is manual , you lose the exif data . Hope that answers your question :)
