my hometown is basically known all over the world because of automobile manufacturing. the area where the actually assembly takes place in the city is known as the Rouge Complex. there are steel mills and refineries in the area as well as the car industry and of course many businesses that support the manufacturing that takes place in the larger companies. this is pure Americana for me. this photo and the another I posted today are inspired by Berenice Abbott's American Scene portfolio of images. I believe these are both from the Marathon Oil Company's properties. I shot these from the car as I wasn't sure if getting out to photograph would be a good idea with the way things are going around here lately. Police presence is high in our cities right now : (
