Teacher driven

My teacher from photography class has a fb page set up for class members where she often posts tips or articles or photo gear she likes. Today she posted an article on an exercise about surveying your location for 10 minutes and composing your shots in your head before you shoot...tried it and this is just a cell phone shot edited in phone but I like both the exercise and the photo!
This is really pretty. I like the colors and soft blur.

what a great exercise - will give it a go - although sometimes I think I already do that without realising lol

@aecasey @annied thank you! Annie I would like to think I do this most of the time but there are a lot of times I just shoot and hope for the best lol!

A day workshop I went on started with standing in the same place for 10 minutes and taking 10 shots with as much variety as possible to help you 'see' a photo where you might originally think there was none. All these exercises are worth trying. Great shot too!

It is an interesting exercise, and one that seems to work!

I did it once in a bathroom where there was "nothing to photograph" and ended up with a reflecting water faucet picture that I really liked. I think it is a great exercise and this shot is a great proof of that.
