lost it's mate in a hit and run and now it too has an injured leg. I fear the snapping turtles might be it's demise. animal control will not rehab these : (
@robz while a third of the swan's size, the snapping turtle is equipped with very large claws. I've seen one chew apart a dead goose. rather gruesome I know.
We don't have them here - thank goodness. But there has been the occasional story about one being found in a lake etc - releases from aquariums apparently.
