My mother was born in a city outside of Detroit called Hamtramck. We are of Polish descent. Hamtramck had a very large Polish population when she was born. My grandparents came to the United States from Poland and settled in Hamtramck. I went on a photo tour with my cousin and another new friend on Sunday. I had talked about it with my cousin but it had never happened and when I met Emily who has recently moved into Hamtramck we talked about photographing it and we finally had a date for a tour provided by my cousin. He still lives there and has been a city councilman. He pretty much knows everyone.
This is an old garage which now houses a ceramic studio that provides classes for children. The owners are very clever and have re-named it "Hamtramck Ceramck". Hamtramck rhymes with ceramic...very cute! looking forward to touring some more of the city!
