This is a Memorial Day Parade in our town. Memorial Day is to honor those lost in war. Day is Done is the bugle call commonly known as Taps. It was played after a day of fighting to signal lights out. It is used at military funerals and wreath layings. It is hauntingly beautiful. I cry every time it's played. It was played at my dad's funeral as he was a WWII Army veteran. Other than Taps and our National Anthem this is a silent parade. No sirens or horns. A solemn affair to show respect for those who paid the ultimate price of going to war.
