The Very Large Array (VLA) is a radio astronomy observatory about a two-hour drive from our home. It consists of 27 giant radiotelescopic dishes. Altogether they are 2.5 miles in diameter. A single one weighs 230 tons. I think they are even more remarkable with the layer in the foreground--don't miss it!
For a smile, Charlie has a companion photo today here:

Thank you for pointing them out. I was on the dishes and the hills. Interesting shot.

The antelope make a interesting picture better. Great picture.

Wicked interesting. Your addition of the foreground was brilliant; without it, you’d not get perspective on their magnitude of size!

Terrific Jane. What are they in the foreground?

Don't bother to reply Jane. Just been reading about Pronghorn Antelope although it is not really an antelope. :-(

So just another reason why when "they" come you'll probably see them before me? ;-)

Thank you so much for commenting on my photo of the Very Large Array. Because you might not know our landscape, I feel a need to tell you that to find a wild herd of antelope grazing right in front of the array was very, very unusual.
