Great color, Jan. I use a tube extender since I just couldn't justify the expense of a macro right now. Takes a little getting used to, but works! And this photo is great the way it is!
@cathieg - thanks, Cathie! @maggiemae - thanks Maggiemae - they are incredibly hard workers. @paul2782 - thnaks so much, Paul! @carolb - thanks Carol. I am not clear on how the reverse lenses work - I will read thru the threads - but don't you have to have the camera like 2cm from the subject? @mamamia - Thanks Joanne. How do the extenders work?
@jankoos I ordered one from amazon that would fit on my canon. It is just basically a set of open tubes/extenders. You put the on the camera and then you telephoto lens. You have to manually focus, but you probably do that most of the time anyway. You have to get real close to find focus and do have a pretty small range for depth... But I like using it!
@mamamia - interesting. I will definitely look at these although sometimes getting super close isn't an option. @anton955 - thanks Punika @rhos - thanks so much Ann and thanks for the fav. Made my day! 20 minutes after I took this pic we had a fierce hail storm that flattened the crocuses. @carolb - so many options, Carol. I will read more about it. Having to put the lens less than an inch from the subject isn't so appealing - particularly if it crawls or stings - lol.
@eyesmile - Thanks Gena! @chard - Thanks Chard - yes - it's nice to see spring starting although we have snow foercast for tomorrow night. @pflaume - thanks Lisa - yes - we have honey bees - it's fun to watch them - this was the first winter and my hubby is encouraged they made it so far. :-) @elaine55 - thanks Elaine - I love the purple crocuses too!
@sansjuan - thanks Nita! @andrina - Thanks Andrina! @bristolrose - thanks so much Kathyrn - and thanks for the fav! @judis - Thanks so much, Judi - and thanks for the fav. It was on the PP this morning but only briefly! @zambianlass - thanks so much for the fav.
@vitamink - Thanks K. @flashster78 - thanks so much for the nice comment and fav, Lorraine. I was so lucky with this shot - I waited, hoping one of the bees would land in the crocus and one did. Just a short time later the hail wiped out the little crocus patch.
@elaine55@kcman5@judis - thanks so much. It seems to stay on there for a little while and then bump off. Was thrilled to see it there. :-) @alisonp - thanks Alison - I am going to have to read about the tubes. Just not so keen on having to go to within an inch of a bee or other thing with more than four legs.....do u have to get super close with the tubes?
@jankoos I think you do ~ I haven't really used them yet ~ I have used screw on magnifying filters and I have to get close with those ~ things with legs I am OK with, its the things with no legs I would have a problem with
MUCH cheaper alternative!!
