usually when I as the kids to come and open the gates for me when I drive up to feed the pigs I am met with moans and groans.
However if I follow the request with the words "you can drive my car" they leap at the chance. This is Sam who is just twelve and it his second 'go' at driving. Today he pretty much got the hang of clutch control and starting off. Must concentrate a bit more on the stopping bit of driving now tho because he missed hitting the gate you can see in the distance by a couple of inches.
Still trying to weigh up whether the not having to open and close the gates myself side of things is outweighed by the negative effects on my nerves and blood pressure.
fabulous to be able to give them the chance to manoeuvre a car early, wish we could do the same. Not sure Ryan would be able to reach the peddles though, at 14 he's still very small :/
OMG! well, i guess it's different with living in a rural area... i could not imagine letting my 13 year old behind the wheel at this point! this is a lovely shot!
It's just as well to get them used to driving at a young age in a controlled way I think...I was a nervous wreck going out with my daughter when she was first driving :o) I love this shot. He looks so pleased with himself xx
having taught 3 daughters to drive, I was going to say, doing this will save you some grey hairs later. A little experience in a safe environment pays off later. The driveway is no longer exciting at 17.
