At last a normal day for the kids school-wise. Buses running as normal for both if them.
My new technique for getting water to the donkeys' field by dragging a 25 litre water carrier behind me through the snow husky stylee is working well. The getting it up the steps in the garden bit is still pretty difficult. It has created a track in the snow that has all the qualities of a bob sled run so I know it's only a matter of time before it catches up with me on the downhill bit, knocks my feet out from under me and I end up tobogganing down the hill on it, so it is just as well the snow is due to disappear in the next 48 hours really.
A neighbour phoned me today to let me know that the fox had just been in her garden eying up her ducks, so to make sure the chickens were OK. All fine at the moment, but I could see foxy footprints circling their enclosure and in the snow on our lawn.
On the drive to the bus stop this morning my eldest son asked me what I was up to tomorrow because he wants me to deliver something for him.
He has been asked by his school to apply for an engineering scholarship during his A'levels and the closing date for his application is tomorrow! So he wants me to drive to Leamington to deliver it. 20 miles each way, an hour's round trip, not to mention £15 worth of fuel. Just as well the organisation aren't based in Glasgow I suppose.......
I've been nagging him for months to do the form, and had thought that it had to be in for some time in Feb. Grrrr!!!!
On a brighter note, yesterday I found an old CF card which contained photos from years ago. It has been so lovely looking at them. Aaahhh, my boys... those days of un-self-conscious nudity on holiday are long behind us. Just as well I suppose seeing as they are 12 and 15 years old now, but I must say the pics made me quite emotional.
This is a picture I have had in mind for a long time, I had an attempt at it last year, but it was just a cropped single photo. This is a panorama made of four photos put together in PSE8. Not quite the effect I was looking for but fun to do nonetheless. I like how the trees are in straight lines, so years ago probably formed part of hedgerows that have since been removed to make farming the land easier.
That is very good indeed Jan. @stoat introduced me to the photos of Michael Kenna last week, and he has some shots like this too. Worth alook in his japan, Hokkaido folder http://www.michaelkenna.net/
My kids are the same, always late with stuff like this. In a way it has some merit, because it shows that they are still children, but I tend to get exasperated too!!
Typical children, always remember something the night before or on the morning!!Love your wittering the bob sled run sounds amusing, watch out!! Love your panorama, the snow adds another dimension giving it a wonderful contrast. Very well done, love it
@seanoneill Sean, thanks so much for the link, that guy's work is just breathtaking. I found the square composition he uses in a lot of his landscapes really interesting and that stark simplicity just beautiful. Very inspiriing. Have already sent the link to ane of my best friends who lives in Kyoto. Thanks!
