first rays (could these lambs possibly look any more content to be sitting in the sun?)
Waved the children off to school with a little more enthusiasm than normal today with the plan of starting on some long overdue admin work that I need to get done because we are re-arranging our mortgage at the moment.
I was just about to sit down to it when I looked out of the window at the sun just beginning to shine through the frosty mist and thought 'sod it! I am going out with my camera.'
Drove to a couple of my usual sheep spotting haunts and was rewarded by the sight of many many lambs basking and frolicking in the by now warm sunlight. Thinking about it, this is probably the first sight of the sun that these little ones have ever seen, and they were certainly making the most of it. I got really close to them and am sure that they would have stayed asleep until I touched them if I had tried. It was tempting, but I didn't try out my theory.
I have to say, an hour spent wandering in warmish sun, through basking lambs was the perfect antidote to an in some ways, rather unsettling weekend. Got home and made reasonable progress with the admin.
The four of us took a brief trip to the pub early evening to wish our friends' son a happy 18th birthday.

Well, would you believe it the kamikaze pheasant mad a brief appearance today? I would like to say that he was looking unscathed following his recent exploits, but sadly that was not the case. He now has a terrible limp and some of this tail feathers are broken and bent. Not sure how long he will last in that state with Mr Fox being so much in evidence these days.....
Such innocence !! love the way they indulge in the morning sun - So sorry to hear of Mr Pheasant sad* tail *oops tale of woe Hope he'll gather strength before Mr Fox smells him out !!!
Oh my...that is total enjoyment...sorry to hear that Mr Pheasant is worse the wear...I wonder if he saw his reflection and thought it was another male and so went after it and thru the windows.
Funny that they haven't had a chance to enjoy the sun until now.
Sorry to hear about the pheasant. I'll have to pick up the rest of the tale tomorrow as it's way past bedtime here.
