Incredibly busy day. Graham was out playing golf with three friends today and then the friends and their wives came round for dinner in the evening. So, a bit of frantic cleaning and tidying in the morning followed by going to collect Sam from school at lunchtime.
He had the most fantastic time on his snowboarding trip and came home looking tanned and tired. The trip as a whole was a great success - no serious injuries apart from one of the teachers who broke a leg!
He is already dropping very large hints about going again next year - to Nevada that time including a couple of days in Vegas - even more expensive (gulp!)
He was obviously really glad to be home and raced off for a shower as soon as he got in. It really made me smile when he shouted from the bathroom "I love being at home, we have got really nice toilet paper!" He bought me a glass giraffe (my fave animal) with green (my favourite colour) glow in the dark bits inside it - bless him! I will of course treasure it for ever.
Lots of cooking in the afternoon and I was pleased with how things turned out. I made Moroccan lamb and filo pie, giant couscous with winter vegetables, mixed green beans with many spices and lovage (I used celery leaves) and lettuce salad. The Moroccan pie is something I have made for years but the last three items were all from Yotam Ottolenghi's book 'Plenty' which is a current favourite of mine. This was all followed up with a zucotto semi-freddo which I already had in the freezer from when I made a batch of them a few weeks ago. LOTS of cooking, but I really enjoyed doing it and it all seemed to be quite well received.
Sam fell asleep on his bed at 6.30 so Graham didn't see him when he got in. I was convinced that he would be wide awake in the early hours of the morning but he woke up at 6.30am.
Goodness I seem to have missed your shots unless you posted a couple together...........so glad Sam had a ball, a very enlightening adventure!! Beautiful dog, I love him!!!
Super shot of the boxer.
Glad Sam had a great time.
