one blissed out piggie. Most of the day was spent getting things ready for our May Day bash tomorrow. I was helping to set up the art exhibition and Angus came in to tell me that there was a badger in our garden and I needed to come and take a photo of it.
I was convinced that it was a cat that he had seen, but no, his identification skills were spot on and there was indeed a badger in the garden at 5.30pm. I took a couple of completely rubbish photos and it managed to escape and ran right up the middle of the road to leave the village. All very bizarre. I have never seen a badger in broad daylight. Lots at dusk and when it is dark, but never one in broad daylight, never one in our garden and definitely never one running up the main street of the village. All very bizarre.
Sam has been out all day because every year for May Day he and a friend of ours run a cake and cookie stall. Today he has made and decorated 90 pop cakes. Very lovely they look too.
Great forecast for tomorrow. Last year was simply miserable. We did our usual guess the donkey's weight/birthday/mother's name or whatever stall. And as usual kids got to meet and stroke the donks and goats. It didn't stop raining and was freezing cold the whole time we were there. To make matters worse Lilly, our mare was in season and her and Jack repeatedly took advantage of the situation, to the great interest of lots of small children. Hopefully they will be better behaved this year.......
Gosh - think we have something to learn from this one - if only we could feel as blissed out as that from something as simple as a mud bath! Great capture!
Aaaah great pig in shot!!!!! Love that and the narrative as ever. Hopefully the animals will behave but there again who has a clue. Have a great day and hope the sun does shine
What a great pig - is he yours as well? And Sam sounds marvellous - please send him over. Didn't that programme about wildlife being in dire straits this year say badgers are about in the daytime because they've been desperately short of worms? Something like that....
A lesson in the birds & bees for all the village children....I love it!!
