This is a filler from earlier in the week. These young starlings were making the most of the newly cleaned out water feature just outside our kitchen doors. At times there were loads of them in there but every time I reached for my camera the dog went outside and scared them off.
This morning I was up at 5.30 because I couldn't sleep. I did about eleven hours of gardening, interspersed with even more children's taxi driving duties than normal. Things in the garden are really taking shape now, and the combination of the beautiful weather we have had and the fact that there is light at the end of the tunnel seem to have re-kindled my love of gardening.
Sadly, although the garden is now looking pretty tidy, the time I have spent on it means that the house is a complete tip. I am actually looking forward to getting it tidied up next week.
For most of the time I was outside I could hear frequent bouts of 'eeyoring' coming from the donks.' These were protestations at being shut in their yard for most of the day. First job next week is to get the electric fence sorted out so they can be shut into a small area of the field where there isn't much grass. I am a bit reluctant to look at the electric fence equipment. Chances are that because it has been switched off for some time the goats will have chewed through the cables and I will have to cobble them together (again!) to get it working.
fab shot! I spent ages yesterday trying to get a shot like this but ended up with them just sitting there LOL ~ on a plus side i had waited almost 15 months to get a shot of them in or near the water
I must fave this too Jan for the compete exuberance of the bath time ritual...all those droplets of bath water are so cute ....one waiting in line too!!
I am in a can't sleep mode at the moment too until morning comes of course when I have just dropped off!! You are too tired perhaps, you need to relax a little before bed not easy when it's so light & lovely outside...the house will soon get straight, gardens take longer!!
I love the way you've caught the birds' enjoyment of water. Between the garden, the kids, and the donks, who has time for housework? You can catch up the next time it rains.
Beautiful capture. Love this a lot. I know what you mean about the dog scaring off the wild life.!! You did good. And I also know about it being either the garden or the house...????....this time of year the garden wins out!
Definitely a day for outdoor swimming. Really must get my garden in order - and the house is a tip and there's a pile of work on my desk...but I've got a new hammock...
