well that's what my husband calls it anyway. Maybe it's a Yorkshire thing, because they are called allotments where I come from. Ten years ago less than half of the village allotments were in use. These days they are all taken and most of them are in pristine condition. Steve's is my favourite allotment because although he grows plenty of beautiful crops, he likes flowers and if one is sprouting up between the rows, or even in the middle of a row for that matter, he lets it grow. Some people may remember seeing his shed before. I love it, this end is made from the back of a very old ambulance - it's made of wood!

Another day of waiting for the pig to produce its litter of babies. Graham now tells me that he thinks he has got the dates wrong and today was the due date so it should be today or one of the next few days at least. Grrrr...... all of those trips up to check on things were unneccessary.

The temperature is almost 30 degrees and the poor pigs are really suffering with no shade when the sun is high. So I braved the blazing heat and using some very large lengths of fabric which I bought for photography backgrounds I made them each a canopy covering the area from their houses to the fence posts nearby. They now look like they are living in a shanty town.

Such interesting places allotments. My past neighbour manages 3 !!!! Such a joy walking round seeing each persons. One chap used to bring his parrot with him. Great shot of a lovely natural plot

I'm trying to understand what an 'allotment' is. It seems to be a piece of land that one can use for growing a garden, I'm assuming for a fee?
I've never heard the term here in the states.

Very nice shot. We have allotments of sorts here.
I think it is a good idea. Such a waste to not use perfectly good garden space when people don't have their own!
