This is Mummy Cat. I think she has only appeared in my project once before in the past almost two years, mainly because I don't find black cats particularly easy to photograph.
She's getting on now. We don't know how old she is exactly but she decided to move herself and her four kittens out of the storm drain she was living in and in with us into the house we lived in in Singapore just over 13 years ago. The vet we took her to at that time thought she was about eighteen months old then.
She used to be a prolific bringer-in of snakes and eighteen inch long lizards, and when we came back to England no garden bird was safe, but these days she spends a lot of time sleeping. She utterly hates our dog, but I suppose an early life spent meeting reticulated pythons, the longest snake in the world in storm drains does make one a little wary of potential predators.
Feeling a bit sorry for myself today and I seem to have contracted some sort of sore throaty coughy lurgy-like thing
She looks very comfy indeed, lovely shot ! ~ I am not sure my two could cope with a mouse, let alone a snake ... having said that I have seen mine run from a spider, ha ha
I like this one - she looks so comfy and after a life like hers she deserves to sleep in comfort! Pity about the birds! Ours is like that too! Hope its just a passing lurgy!
You are so right! I find black cats (and black cows) so hard to photograph. All the detail gets absorbed into their fur - leaving nothing but a silhouette!
But you have done really well here. She looks fabulous - so sleek and shiny! Great capture!
Hope you are feeling better soon.
I agree black is hard to photo, my Charlie is black and white but in some light he is chocolate and bad light all you can see is his eyes!
Lovely capture, she looks comfy, too. Nice to know she has made a good age.
What a wonderful history she has. I have always had a soft spot for black cats and this is a lovely capture of yours. I think a hot toddy should be in order this evening.
I can't photograph black cats at all, thought it was me!, you have captured this wonderful mummy cat beautifully. Great contrast. Looks just like our Topaz (who I haven't posted for above reason!!)
A Singaporean cat, she found a good home with you & some expense to bring back!!! I say I am coming back as a cat in the afterlife....what a doddle of a life they have!!
She's a bit picky about who she will chat with.
But you have done really well here. She looks fabulous - so sleek and shiny! Great capture!
Hope you are feeling better soon.
Lovely capture, she looks comfy, too. Nice to know she has made a good age.
Drink loads of water!
