For the past two years our village has had an art group which is run by Fiona. We are a small group of between six and eight who meet in Fiona's studio at the bottom of her garden.
We are so lucky because Fiona is incredibly creative, so rather than just sitting around painting bowls of fruit our sessions are broken down into six week blocks where we explore all sorts of different techniques and media, and a diverse mixture of subjects.
We have screen-printed, painted, drawn with three foot long wobbly sticks dipped in India ink, collaged, sewn paper and doodled. There is always a bottle or three of wine involved (good for the creative juices don't you know!) which we drink out of stoneware 'glasses.' I can't tell you how many times I have dipped my paintbrush in my wine rather than my water jar.
Our current block of six lessons is called 'in a circle' and for the first hour and a half we were doing photography, and in particular looking at bokeh. It was great fun.
Graham is having an 'interesting' time in India. He usually comes back from there with lots of funny, if slightly surreal stories of doing business there. 28 degrees when he arrived in Mumbai on Monday night.
What an interesting shot - I love the idea of this cosy friendly group --and feel very envious of this -- I have not been able to join my art group this term (due to health reasons !! )-but miss it so much ! Such a lovely relaxing & creative way to enjoy with friends
That sounds perfect. A gentle sort of creativity, with nice company. And wine! Very good for the soul, as you say. I wish there was something like that around here. There might be, I suppose. I should look.
Nice pic btw - I've been doing a lot of happy wine-fuelled pritt-sticking recently making a book for L.
love the action shot.....sounds like a fun time, especially the "wine" part - though it is a fine line - doing wine and photography at the same time......lol
