A filler today, partly because the weather was so terrible yesterday, but also because I was very short of time.
Angus slipped down some stairs at a party on Saturday night and I had to take him to A&E yesterday to get his foot x - rayed. They think he may have broken it but that will be confirmed when I take him to the fracture clinic today. Hmm, that might have an impact on our Vietnamese holiday plans for 11 days time..........
Sam got back from his Duke of Edinburgh expedition. No blisters, but his ingrowing toenail gave him a lot of pain.
Went to see a screening of the Young Vic's 'A Streetcar Named Desire' starring Gillian Andersen at a local cinema last night. I would thoroughly recommend it if you get the chance to see it - harrowing, but amazingly well acted.
Oh, and the dog stole and ate half a pound of butter and a packet of pate yesterday afternoon and threw up everywhere............
.............so, I didn't get round to taking a photo.
What a day. I hope things are improving. Didi you know dogs are programmed to throw up when you're having a busy day. I'm sure mine are. They don't do it often but when they do their timing is perfect!
Love the image makes you want to open the gate and see what's in the garden.
Reminds me of one of my favourite books The Secret Garden...lovely garden gate......the colours are very pretty! Sounds like a pretty horrendous day & you fitted lots of various jobs in there......shall check out at our Vue cinema when we go tomorrow to see if they are showing that. Hope the holiday plans are saved!
@dh Oh yes, there was alcohol involved.................... It isn't broken, but he has damaged the ligaments so has it in a cast/walking boot and wont be going on holiday with us (his main reason for wanting to come was to go scuba diving)
both boys have got two weeks off - unfortunately I am cancelling the holiday tomorrow. Sam was far less keen to go without Angus being there, and Graham wont have his dive buddy. We did consider going alone but I don't really want to leave them both for two whole weeks, (not on my own, my folks come to stay when we go away) so I think that Graham and I might go somewhere for few days. Oh dear, do you think that means we might have to talk to each other??
Will deffo go to Vietnam at some point in the future, I was really looking forward to it. @judithg
@jantan Oh no! We aren't doing anything as R at uni and A not really interested in going anywhere with us. But we are also in the Catch 22 of not wanting to leave him on his own. We are settling for Made in Dagenham in the West End one evening! I think I may be able to persuade both of them to try Sri Lanka next summer and then that will be that (Adam wants to do Vietnam with a friend).
The only reason Angus wanted to come with us is because of the scuba diving, and he is quite interested in the Vietnam war. Sam was always going to be bored, (and bloody moodily hormonal!) but without Angus it would have been a bit of a nightmare. Next year we are going to Singapore and everyone is looking forward to that because the kids were both born there and they love our Singaporean friends and their kids, so I suppose that what we have saved on this one will mean we can have more of a blow-out next year. @judithg
Instant fav, the comp and pov and glimpse through the gate are all just lovely. After the day you had, I'm amazed that you managed to post at all. I'm sorry about Angus' foot--whether it's broken or not, it must be painful--and about your cancelled vacation.
