Lilly is the only female amongst my four foster donkeys.
When she came to me from the Donkey Sanctuary she was very 'head shy' which means that she hated having her ears touched. Usually donkeys who are like this have been mistreated in the past either by having their ears pulled, or being hit around the head. The Sanctuary don't normally re-home donkeys that have any behavioural problems or idiosyncrasies, but I already had two of their foster donkeys and had asked for a pair that would offer me a bit more of a challenge. I have worked very hard to get her more used to it, and now we can just about touch the top of her head and her ears.
Although she is a bit shy with people, Lilly still rules the roost amongst the donks. She keeps the boy donks well in check.
Lilly is gorgeous and I love this shot - such a lovely pov!! So sad to think of any animal being so badly mistreated!! How lovely to think she now knows she is safe with you. Fav!
