Not the best start to the day...... I woke up at 6.40. So because my alarm is currently set for 7am in an attempt to reset the weird sleep pattern that I am in at the moment, I thought I might as well get up. I sat in the kitchen having my most treasured cup of coffee of the day (solitary and peaceful) and when I glanced at the clock it was actually 5.50am..... bugger!

I faffed about for a bit, reprinting the linoprint that I started a couple of weeks ago because I wasn't happy with the first version, and doing a bit of tidying, laundry etc. All the time, with the fact that I had promised myself that I would go for a walk, but not really feeling like going out.

I finally managed to force myself out of the door and start the long slog up the hill outside our house. A good way to get the ticker going.

I have just started doing a brisk 2 mile walk a few times a week. I would call it 'power walking' but that brings to mind images of pink lycra and leg warmers, which in my case could hardly be further from the truth. Once I get going I quite enjoy it, and I definitely feel better for it.

I passed this horse on the way and stopped to take a quick phone pic. I particularly like the way his fringe is parted. When I got home it was straight out again with the dogs and up that damn hill again to feed the sheep.

I then spent the rest of the afternoon trying to do the VAT return for Graham's company. The Inland Revenue have introduced the new compulsory 'Make Tax Digital' system....... 'Make Tax Impossible' more like. So it looks like I am going to have a thrilling morning of sitting in a phone queue waiting to talk to somebody at HMRC tomorrow. Can't wait!!!
Sounds like a horrid day but you did get lots of exercise up that horrid hill and a pretty great pic out of it!

An excellent pov on this capture and a great narrative - I bet we've all had days like that! Hope tomorrow is better and your phone wait time is minimal.

Good luck with the tax phone queue! Lovely pic of this horse, and a nice narrative. Keep up that walking - it's good for the soul! And as for the morning coffee - I totally get that, I actually get up earlier than hubby, just to get that solitary experience before the rest of the world catches up with me!

Lovely picture of this friendly looking pony,in his smart red jacket. Beautiful backdrop too!
I got myself into a bad sleep routine of getting a second wind around midnight and not being able to relax. Phenergan seems to do the trick!!

I expect youā€™re wilting now....I got up at 4am thinking about plate warmers....Iā€™m really missing my Aga for warming plates & keeping food warm when they donā€™t come in on time to eat! Stupid things that wake us up. I find once you actually get out itā€™s ok them of course you feel very virtuous! Your horse friend looks wide awake & pleased to see you!

You are so active Jan!! He looks like itā€™s too early for him too

You folks with hills are definitely fitter than us flatties. I used Xero for our company accounts and they had a link up with MTD that made it very easy - but it was a day of celebration when I got the notification that we were no longer VAT registered and I could hang up my VAT hat. We were inspected once by a po-faced woman who told me off for putting a Ā£3.50 taxi receipt through without the requisite ā€˜separate VAT lineā€™. Luckily for her (& me) it was before the MPā€™s expenses debacle or I may have told her what I thought. The HMRC hasnā€™t had capacity since which is probably why they are multi million pound VAT frauds they donā€™t notice.
