Whoohoo!!!! What a great capture, down to the craters. You must be so excited! And how cool that you followed my comment by taking the shot tonight! What's next? Candid photos of people? The zoo? Birds?
Often the moon photographs better when it is waxing or waning then when it is full as you have shown us here with this great image. Needless to say it looks even better viewed on black. Well done Joan, you got a fabulous result from your new lens first real outing. A Fav? Oh, go on then!
@vignouse Richard I thought I was zoomed but it must have fallen back. I was struggling to find it in the view finder and went to screen. Must have knocked it down when I was trying to find it plus couldn't remember what iso etc was best kept getting the bright blur and was playing with iso, fstop shutter speed to find the right setting. Next time once I see the result for these I'd better check my new lens to see I have extended it. Actually I've noticed that a couple of times when I play with it. I say this because I thought I was at full zoom but didn't check before I took the picture. Learn, learn, learn.
@joansmor Easily done - when I do a 'moon shot', I zoom right out, put the moon in the middle of the image and then zoom back in again. As you've discovered it's best to use the magnifier in Live View to trim up the focus manually. Great shot though.
@kt8ird I'm out there in the dark trying everything and it's blob, blob, blob. Trying hard to remember what to do. Well, 200 is what you use for a sunny day. The moon was bright. It worked.
