Drought kills

Out in the hills on the back roads again this morning. I noticed something I thought was a fall flower turned to fluff. But when I looked closer I realized they were pine needles which were dried out and turned a pale brown. So I thought it fitted my challenge to take a picture of something I thought was pretty but might not appear so to others. Well dead needles might qualify. I hope they show as the lightness I was seeing driving.
@brett101 Here is my last attempt at your challenge.

Super observation..I love the different natural textures as they transition from summer glory to fall decay..
