I have a sneaky feeling this one won't be Trending. It was taken on a trip to Fez - the butcher's chopping block in the souk. The photo was taken from the hip as the stall holders in Fez were much less happy to have photos taken than in Morocco. Not sure whether I would recommend viewing large - it is a bit gruesome.
Not a lot of time for photography in this busy two week run up to Christmas so I might be posting a few of my travel photos. Then it will be back to normal - AND I'm all set for the beginning of Year 2 on New Year's Day.
I always go to the world press photography exhibits - but this, like some of those images challenges me. Enjoy images that capture life - struggle with some.
Yes definitely gruesome but basically not a lot different to what happens in abattoirs all around the world. Always enjoy seeing your travel shots Jocasta.
Welcome to the real world and while traveling in West Africa we attended a couple of fete's that served us goat stew. I can't say that I liked goat, but they were showing us honor by serving it. No part of a goat that was slaughtered was ever wasted. If it didn't go into the stew pot, it was fixed some other way. Gruesome to view, yes, but it's a reality. Good focus taking this from your hip.
Great from the hip shooting! I've seen similar to this and not overseas! An old neighbour of mine from where I used to live many years ago is a well known African drummer and he uses the entire goat. Meat to eat and hides for drum skins.
