Everyone Starts Somewhere

This is a filler and quite a nostalgic filler. This photo was taken the first time that a photographer tried to explain DOF to me - in The Majorelle Gardens in Marrakech. What a place to learn! I was told to use the lens on f1.4 - he might as well have been talking to me in Greek!
So this is where the inexorable rise to technical mastery started - a photo to be treasured... and that unknown photographer has a lot to answer for!

@vignouse not so unknown - I was on a photographic holiday - don't think he was expecting to have quite such a novice in the group http://www.leefrost.co.uk

Great record of that early awakening to what conscious choice of settings can do for us. I had a similar experience with a park bench!

Well this is certainly a great example how DOF should be controlled. Super shot.

I've been to the Majorelle Gardens - such colours and a lovely place to meet DOF ...I have no doubt it was love at first sight! You got off to a great start with this photo.

It's not every one that has a photo of their aha moment! No wonder this pic is extra special to you. It definitely has lots of DOF, proof that 1.4 works wonders.

Thank you again for a comment shared on my macro project, this time the "V" pic.
