Someday in my future I would love to learn this stuff like you're doing. I'm very jealous. Thanx for the link to that photographer suggestion you gave me. You're right, I think the artist's work to be incredible and evocative.
@jo13 Manchester - he runs one in London as well. If you look at yesterday's photo there's a link to his website and also a Getty video which is pretty much what we learnt. We were just 4 whereas London is 6 but his wife works with him in London.
That must have been so interesting. I also love the contrast between those wonderful old cameras and shiny modern tripods! I'm impressed that the mounts were compatable.
So nostalgic and thank you for sharing! This was once my life and the experience of going through such a lengthy process for every shot makes me appreciate how quick and easy it is today to shoot a burst and choose the best and then have the choice of post-processing in so many more ways than we ever imagined then. I must say though, that every step of the old b&w plate days still goes through my mind every time I press the button, which makes the new fancy names used in the digital software easier to understand. Good luck with your entry. FAV !into "real" photography.
Fantastic shot Jocasta... I really want to do the challenge u gave me yesterday., since you are having lensbaby, i would like to give u a challenge related with that...please do some creative shot with that..is it okay for you..please let me know...
@wordpixman Hi - nice to meet you and especially to meet someone who was creating photos in such a time consuming way on a daily basis. Really quite difficult to imagine now that we're all so used to digital photography. I had a darkroom in the 1980s and developed black and white film.
The wet plate course was fascinating - wow what a long process - the antithesis of everything digital. However, I love digital and I love the digital processing to.
These guys look like they are lining up for a dating show with Wall-e!
