WW1 Lights Out by jocasta

WW1 Lights Out

I was playing Bridge with friends last night - so the Lights out for First World War centenary made for a memorable hour. The hour was all the more poignant because her 18 year old son and a group of his friends were home - having fun as 18 year olds should.
How often is this observed? Is it an annual thing? How cool. Love the glow and processing. And were the kids all partying in the background? Were they in the dark, too?

Wow! Very moving reason. Great way to remember and honor those who served in WWI.

I think it's amazing that the centenary is being marked thusly. How appropriate and what a terrific way to capture the feel of how you spent it.

Clever you. Love the framing and processing - even if it's Hipstamatic. Perfect for the subject.

@amandal Just a one off for the centenary. There's been a lot in our newspapers and on TV about it - so sad and such a waste. It's described as the "War to end all wars". but it didn't.

@jocasta Breaks my heart to think about those days, all of them.

I'm sure this would have been a common occurrence during both World Wars, trying to pass the time in difficult lighting conditions. I can't begin to imagine what it was like for those poor men fighting and for their families.
