I have had various attempts using shadows and lamps to create a photo in the style of northy. (get-pushed-challenge) Tried forks/chessmen/me - and all failed miserably. None of them did her work justice- so i finally gave up and photographed my sunflowers instead.
@summerfield - sorry I had to give up on the challenge - all the photos were so bad. So, my apologies, I offer you a bunch of flowers instead - in the style of Jocasta!
@brigette Thanks, Brigette. It was a great lesson trying to photograph in northy's style - really love her photography. I learnt exactly what you suggested.... do what you do best.
I think you've channeled her low key monochrome approach well! I know how hard it is to meet her standards but she's the one I have in mind in many if not most of my b&w images that aren't architecture.
You look at her work and it seems simple but try to replicate it and you find out how technical it really is. She has really done a great study of light and shadow and black and white. But it is fun to try and in the trying learn.
I promise you, Joy, that it would be equally hard for Mira to shoot a picture in your style. You are both equally talented but photography is a broad canvas.
I have had a great time looking through your photos. You are quite creative. For your Get Pushed challenge I suggest you interpret this summer time quote "Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability" using a technique of your choosing.
i just shot my response to yours and will be posting it tonight.
