Here's my old friend the green woodpecker. He spent a long time poking his beak into the soil. I think he must be after ant's eggs, because that spot is where I remember them coming up from in the summer. I wonder if its the same bird as in the photo of 16th July? The one in that photo was a fledgling with spotty plumage.
