This was shot from a bathroom window. I hoped to get the pole star in the shot but I hadn't reckoned on our security lamp being in the way!
It's difficult to see much through the viewfinder in the pitch black!
This shows the different colours of stars when given a long exposure. This was 3 hours. I can also see that there were at least 6 planes going in/out of Heathrow throughout this time (comforting to see that they all follow roughly the same approach line)

It's a single 3 hour exposure. Olympus cameras have a feature called Live Composite. After taking one picture that is used as it's base, all remaining exposures ONLY record any increase in light. Hence, when the stars move to a different position, the camera records this as a new light source. The maximum the camera will operate for is 3 hours in this feature.
