Trying a new process

I am very happy with an alternative photographic printing process that I tried today- cyanotype prints. ( http://www.alternativephotography.com/cyanotype-classic-process/ ). I am going to send in 2 prints for this years World Cyanotype Day - ( https://www.worldcyanotypeday.com/ ).

The process is fun and uses a contact negative print system. It is similar to the palladium prints which I do now and then but much less expensive and complicated. My biggest hitch was that my printer was turning my digi-negs green. I bit the jpeg so to speak and had a local lab print off some negatives for my prints. At first I was aghast at the price but realize the lab needs to stay in business too. Anyhow, I have been bitten by the printing and alternative photography bug once again.

This is also the first time that I've printed on fabric, white muslin to be precise. It scared me at first but it is actually a fairly easy process and since I live in a very dry environment, the fabric drys very quickly.

This is also a SOOCP - straight out of cell phone image.
yeah!!!

Film prices are indeed staggering. I make prints on carbon paper and then lubricate it with castor oil.

Ok, got all the answers. Big fav here, too, and I need to try this process. This autumn!

@kali66 Thanks, old processes are cool even if I make digi-negs!

@golftragic I like this process, it is cheaper by far as compared to palladium printing.

@jernst1779 Very thankful for the fav.

@haskar How wonderful!! Do you have any information about your process? Is this anything like what you do? ( http://www.alternativephotography.com/carbon-printing-an-alternative-process-not-for-the-faint-of-heart/ ). I would love to see some of your carbon prints.

@domenicododaro This process is easy and FUN! I will be trying it on paper and then will post. I hope that you get your feet wet (so to speak) with alternative processes. I got my kit from Bostic an Sullivan in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They are very helpful if you should have any questions. YouTube also is a place to get an idea of the process steps.

Neat image! I admire anyone who does their own processing. I don't really have room now; years ago I lived in a house with a dark room, but I had a new baby and never even tried it. I wish I'd been more adventurous!

Too right! I love your urge to experiment! This is such a good result too. Your attitude puts me to shame! Fav
