Continuing on with my new found love of Cyanotype printing. I took a Infra-red image, made a digi-neg and then printed using cyanotype chemicals on fabric. I guess pushing the alternative photography thing a bit much but what the hay, life needs to an adventure or nothing.
I did oops though, my negative is backwards so Bell Rock is on the wrong side of Court House Butte in Sedona.
I don't understand exactly what you did, but the result is awesome! It's been a while since I used film, but aren't negatives always backwards so that when you print them everything comes out on the right side? It's been so long, I forget!!
So interesting. Did you print on acetate for the digital-negative? And the fabric, did you spread the sensitive emulsion yourself? Lots of questions on this!
@domenicododaro I did start with a digi-negative - I use Pictorico (amazon has it), Turning a image B&W and then invert it- you might want to up the contrast but not always necessary.
I took the cloth -already cut into the size you want- I'd make it a bit larger than the negative you are using- folded it so it would fit into the cups provided with the kit. I let the cloth soak about 5 minutes in the chemical mixture. I used a skirt hanger with clips so the cloth would be somewhat flat after drying.
Place the coated cloth and the negative between 2 pieces of glass and let it sit in the sun- 7-10 minutes is what I like, depends on the density of the negative.
Then rinse the cloth about 15 minutes (constant agitation-rocking the tray works just fine) with changing the water every 2 minutes or so. I then used a bath of 30oz distilled water and 3 oz of hydrogen peroxide which deepens the blue very nicely - and then let the print dry again on the hanger.
@samae Getting back into the old fashioned methods brings back good memories for me.
@jernst1779 Thank you so much. It is a fun thing to get back into chemicals and stuff.
@ideetje What a most kind comment, thank you so much.
@olivetreeann Even when I scan my old negatives, I get many backwards. I am very very glad that computers can compensate for people like me :):)
@haskar Most grateful, thank you .
@ninaganci Thank you so much. This video might help ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLoxNysJfRc ).
I order my chemicals from Bostic and Sullivan ( https://www.bostick-sullivan.com/cart/48/51/ )- there are instructions included with the kit are very clear but to get as visual try this youtube - ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y00DU5OOqaQ )

Hope you give it a try.
