We arrived in Berlin too late for photos on Thursday evening so I'm borrowing a shot from yesterday. We stayed round the corner from 'Checkpoint Charlie' and had lovely breakfasts at the Einstein Cafe just by the Checkpoint for less than a quarter of the cost of the hotel version. On Sunday we spotted the character with the hair and shoes and next news I was abandoning my coffee to snap them filming a music video. The girls in the cafe had no clue who they were and we assume they are Russian as they are call 'Leningrad Cowboys'. Think Eurovision Song Contest and you'll get the idea. The 'American guard' is there all the time charging money for people to have photos with him - this must have been a nice bonus. The atmosphere of intimidation, desperation and fear around this checkpoint has definitely changed for the better.
@5unflow3r Well thanks to Michael for that exciting info! The kids will be pleased they are actually famous somewhere. They were very 'pro' - did it all in one take.
