Ahhh - friends, wine, nibbles, gossip, and a passing reference to some literature. You can't beat book club night. I don't think I'm boasting (well I am but I'm doing it anyway) if I say my 365 Project was better received than David Mitchell's 'The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet' on a score for readability. Mostly because poor old Jacob was quite hard going. Mind you I read it on my Kindle and so, blissfully unaware of how long it was, I rather enjoyed it despite the rather protracted and complicated first section. My friends very kindly selected their own favourites from my Albums. Their choices were varied and unexpected in some cases and ranged from recent to right back to the beginning of last year which was very nice. I've sort of forgotten about those early photos so it was great to revisit them. Luckily Sarah, our hostess with the mostess, has a very clean floor or you'd all know about it!
I've moved my other pic and 3 good things to Extras. http://365project.org/judithg/extras/2012-10-25
Oh my Judith your photo of your book club makes mine look very low key!!! I am ashamed!!! LOL !
Love the low floor scene & your friends sitting around talking, drinking & generally having a great night. So glad your project went down well as I knew it would!!!
Better not visit Tesco!!!!!
Love the angle and the hazy figures. I know what you mean about David Mitchell - we read Cloud Atlas. We had our book group today too - we've been reading Jeffrey Archer's Paths to Glory, a novel about the life of George Mallory. I know he is very contriving but he writes well and it made a fascinating read.
Nice perspective here, looks really inviting. Sounds like you had a good evening. Strangely I have The thousand Autumns on my kindle and have put it aside as it is hard going. Probably done about the first part so maybe I need to persevere because it is quite an unusual tale, and like you there was something about it that I did like.
@jennywren Fabulous ending - we agreed that it needed some firm editing as he goes on a bit - for me it was definitely worth persevering but the others aren't so sure!
Great shot. Laying on the floor again? Your focus idea is superb. Is it an unfocused focus group? How did you present your 365? Did everyone visit your site first? From start to present? I like the concept.
Your book club sounds like so much fun! I must join one, too, some day :). Lovely way to show your club to us - conveys the atmosphere without showing faces.
Judith, i'd love to know what shots were the faves of your book club members...I assume they are 'none photographers............all 365'ers become photographers by default'......and therefore may have a different eye to 365'ers
I like how you've made your friends all blurry to preserve there anonymity...or maybe they are 'bleary eyed' after navigating through your 900+ images.... :)
love this shot! Just had my book club too - we are now reading Me Before You by Jojo Moyes and we went to see her speak yesterday in Littlebury where she lives. Very interesting to hear an author read her own book! You have done better than me with David Mitchell!
@lauralatham Cried all the way through that - quite embarrassing in New York - I had to be careful not to read it in public. I'd like to hear her speak - I really like Last lLetter from Your Lover.
Great shot, it suits the subject, if you know what I mean. Glad your friends liked 365 better!! Ooh, I did listen to half of the radio 4 thingie, I found it too sad - the poor lonely old woman!
