A day of mundane but necessary tasks so I resolved to use a shot from yesterday and took Monty out without my camera only to miss a swan doing the most spectacular river landing I've ever seen. He clearly enjoyed it and I cursed my lack of equipment. I've been wanting to photograph the porters at the back of Trinity for ages because they have great silhouettes against the stone facia of the college building - and now I have a lens that can do the job. In fact I intended to post a much wider view with the whole porter and a huge background but then I decided that this was a more interesting crop. I may have been wrong... @fueast may recognise this chap as we harangued him for shots on our photo walk.
Three good things:
1. Adam's team came second in the tournament and are therefore through to the National Championships in January. Big exciting news is that they get customised kit for the event.
2. Boring mundane jobs are mostly done.
3. I'm not going out tonight :0)
@fueast Yes he did seem very nice. I wasn't sneaky enough - we eyeballed each other from a distance before I lost my nerve. Think he may think I'm a stalker.
I think this shot makes him look much more intriguing and interesting than a porter. As for going out without a camera, it's just asking for trouble, I've found to my cost!!!
Um, so what exactly IS a porter? Does it have something to do with doors? If so, why is he not at his post? Or do they carry things? If so, why is he not carrying anything? I think you should continue stalking and solve these mysteries for me.
@bpaquette@nanalisarocks It's a good question! They don't carry things! They man the entrances to the College and laugh at students checking their pigeon holes 20 times a day, sort then out with lost keys and make sure that they are behaving themselves. They also make sure visitors are behaving and not walking through with dogs, having picnics or playing radios or any of the other 'not allowed things'. And they are generally friendly and helpful (especially Trinity). Often ex-military.
Customised kit....Stella McCartney ?
Lovely sand stone & a perfect foil for this chap in his very official outfit, I think he has seen you though!!! I love the new lens for shots like this...a cowards delight!!!!
