Dangerously posting while I still want to kill Waitrose who have failed to deliver again and are still trying to send their Christmas deliveries in 2014. My mum and dad plan well ahead but even they don't work on a two year cycle. Still they've moved from a 5 day delivery window to one day (twice) and now to an actual time - unfortunately they can't tell me what day the actually time will be on and it may be two year's hence. That's what happens when you scrimp on your adverts ;0)
So now I've stopped moaning I'll say what a glorious day it's been. I could have got some stunning @fueast style frosty landscapes when I headed out early this morning to do the food shop but sadly I had to dash home and get on with work - this employment malarkey even inconveniences me now and again! Still pinky skies gave the promise of some pretty shots this afternoon so I took Monty over to the river at Granchester. Pink faded rapidly to grey but a whole host of robins made themselves available for long lens action instead. Rather grainy - I'm sure the ISO is something hideous - but I thought the background was pretty here. It'll be great to try it out in the sunshine - or even daylight!
Three good things:
1. Frosty mornings that make everything sparkle.
2. Frozen mud (as opposed to muddy mud).
3. Heated car seats. Never had then before but oooh on a cold morning - and brilliant for backache!
Hmm yes unlike me who is rarely troubled by work?? I'm sure you didn't mean to imply that... I can get you some stuff from Waitrose - its at the end of my street. Very kind of this robin to pose against a lovely wintery background. Very nice.
@fueast Oh no - I didn't mean that! Actually I was thinking you'd be out with the dog multi-tasking at the crack of dawn! I've discovered that the roadworks have gone so I could have done the scenic route and screeched to a halt for a photo after all - ahh well - I'm pretty sure it will be cold again before spring.
Naughty Waitrose! so you might get something delivered at a certain time on an unknown day any year in the future..? !!!
Thank goodness the Robins were obliging!!!
Fabulous background as you say!!! and I'm sure you will have several frosty mornings before BST officially arrives (without said sun of course which is probably lost somewhere by Waitrose!)
Really lovely bird photo. My mom's car has seat warmers. She didn't tell me about them and decided to surprise me. As I sat in her car and the warmth seemed to start in the middle of the seat and slowly spread, I seriously thought I was wetting myself somehow without knowing. Personally, I didn't like it in the car, because it got too cozy, but I would love a heated chair in my house. :-)
I seriously love my heated seats but Cathy hates them as she too thinks she has wet herself!!!! Oh so good for aches & pains....had them on coming home tonight! Lovely robin & that touch of frost on the branches really Christmassy!
Lovely brightness against that cold looking sky. We had heated car seats unbeknown to us in Vancouver. We accidental knocked the switch on in the cab of our rented fifth wheel, we nearly melted, it was hot anyway. We had just picked it up and couldnt find the off button!
..enjoying the frozen mud even though i love the real mud very much.
Great Lil' robin shot, these sundowns are mighty quick. We have 30 % snow chance tmo. P.s sleep in
Definitely not killed.! Childhood memories of my Dad singing ..he was born 1912 and this was obviously from his childhood.
North wind doth blow , we shall have snow
, and what will poor Robin do then , poor thing .
he'll sit in a barn and keep himself warm ,
and tuck his head under his wing , poor Thing.
@rvm Apparently you can only get those in a Ford because they've got the patent - according to the man who sold us one recently - my husband says they worked a treat yesterday but I don't like the fact that you can see the wires - they make lights blurry at night.
Lovely pic. I miss Robins. American ones just aren't as pretty or Christnassy looking (sorry American friends). My mum used to sing Who Killed Cock Robin - She had a very dark side lol!
