Phew - late posting and feeling guilty about neglecting all my 365 chums. Just too much to do at the moment. I thought I might have to set up an indoor shot but a brisk trip to the park with the dog turned out to be surprisingly fruitful. I was standing in the middle of the puddle to take this which curiously had a thick layer of ice underneath the water. St John's College Chapel in the distance - sadly didn't get chance to go to the Advent Service this year.
Three good things:
1. I've finished the dress I'm making apart from the hem and it doesn't look too shabby - photo sometime this week I expect.
2. Welly socks - icy puddles no object.
3. A onlline shop called 'Away with the fairies' which gets the prize for the swiftest movement of an order from 'Placed' to 'Shipped' (well under an hour - pink fairy wings £1.99)
Another view of this scene in Extras as I'm indecisive.
1. Excellent image, beautiful.
2. Welly socks are the future
3. Looking up "Away With The Fairies"
4. (because I want to) Life is hectic at the moment so don't fret about not paying enough attention, you're not the only one :)
The perfect light to show up these stunning reflections, both the upper half &lower part each superb in their own right!
I wish I had somebody to buy fairy wings for!!!! I have bought a dinosaur torch today as Jo has told Max we are bringing presents but he won't know he is supposed to wait till Christmas day so got some odds & ends to give him when we arrive.
Ah - it's St John's College . I think I like this shot better, I like the blue sky. Looking forward to seeing the finished dress. didn't realise you had two albums!
i like the light Judith it has a very atmospheric feel to it.
When judges or speakers come to our camera club they get quite excited about reflections and nearly every one always state a rule about composition. They say try not to split the frame in the middle with the reflection, because the best light and detail tends to be in the reflection rather than the original scene. So the judges take on it would be a crop just above the tower.
Personally it works with or without the crop. What do you think? I deffo think the light is better in the water :)
@phil_howcroft I wondered about that - it's slightly complicated because the horizon is actually higher than midline - they puddle stopped! Also I thought I'd lose tree detail - but I'll check it out. I think you might prefer the Extras one - I'll have to check where I cropped!
