When I was at university, rather a long time ago, Steve Coogan had a character called Paul Calf who was very rude about students (needless to say we all found him hilarious). I won't quote him here as he was very uncouth but now and again his words pop in to my mind...
If I say it myself I took a couple of beautiful photos today which may appear at some point but I'm going with this bombed one for now. Well it isn't a university town without students.
Three GT:
1. I have tickets for Paul Hollywood in my possession - @lucypics and I are going to go and drool (at his baking).
2. The nice Chinese girl who didn't complain when Monty put muddy feet on her expensive leather skirt (well she was encouraging him).
3. Mr Blue Sky.
I think he is rather good in Philomena by all accounts...rather versatile too!!
A great leg shot here Judith ...I like him striding out purposely among the puddles! What as back drop too...inspiring one would think for any student!
Those tickets had better be put in the safe.....you have to take notes when you & Lucy go!!! He is coming to Manchester but not sure of the dates ...must check
Super reflection shot, how low down did you have to go to get that! Such a fab subject and gorgeous colours you have captured here, did the photobomber not notice you practically face down in the puddle?
@jo13 He must have done as the dog was climbing on my shoulders and barking but I was too busy with my head in the puddle - I didn't know I'd taken him until after the event!
@judithg I always feel like I'm missing the point. Doesn't help that I met him when he played at my uni many moons ago. I didn't find him 'very endearing' shall we say.
@humphreyhippo Arrogant I reckon - I didn't feel very sympathetic when he was moaning about phone tapping (not that I approve of phone tapping!!) - he came over as rather superior.
Instant fav Judith,Mathis is such a wonderful photo bomb. Were you actually lying in the puddle? This student must have wondered what you were doing. Paul Holleywood, YES ...... Can't wait.
Students... they do seem to have a habit of walking in just at the wrong moment. Although on this occasion it seems to have been useful. Very rarely the case! ( not PhD students of course who complain about students all the time....). Lovely clear reflection.
I like this a lot - when I used to teach there was a photograph by Cartier-Bresson that I used to show as an example of a great city shot. Your pic has a similar feel-what do you think? Here's a link: http://www.afterimagegallery.com/bressonbehindgare.htm (my fav for today, by the way)
@pistonbroke Oh well I'm very flattered that I've reminded you of a Cartier-Bresson. I might stick it into B&W for comparison! I do like the feeling of movement in this - it's a determined walk.
nice bag on the student (I like shoulder bags ...I have a nice onr to rake to work)...I assume the fist comment in this thread is not referring to the students bag in the picture !!!..look forward to your beautiful pics L(

I never really 'got' Steve Coogan.
