This hill does get a bit steeper but not much - it's the best Cambridge can do. The gallery at Kettles Yard is being refurbished and this banner covers the windows. Many of the items featured (maybe all?) are found in Kettles Yard house. When you go in Kettles Yard House you have to pay £2 to take photos and sign a form saying that you won't put them on the internet so I'm quite pleased with this sneaky way round!
A very wet and dark day and my new camera was really struggling until I turned the convenient dial that lets you over-ride the automatic exposure. This one was taken before then - I think if I'd already adjusted it I would have had shadow people again.
Enough rambling - 4 GT:
1. Book group here tomorrow - we haven't met for ages so I'm looking forward to seeing everybody.
2. 'Student' on the PP - thank you!
3. Monty was uncharacteristically well-behaved in the key cutters.
4. My Christmas cards have come and they look great - mostly 'Snow on St John's Street' but I also did 'Bonkers' (punt in the snow) which looks even better - and both have Monty in his Santa hat on the inside.
You have done your own Christmas cards...I am impressed Judith...I wonder if I can do mine next year!!!! Please show us sometime when you are struggling for a shot!!
A hill but only a very tiny one...a slight slope more like!! How mean to charge £2 for a photo...what harm is there to put adverts for them on the internet...strange reasoning!
I like your shadowy figures. I think they show up better as shadows.
@happypat I used two of January's snowy pictures and did them with Photobox. Big and glossy - I waited till a deal was on and so not too bad price wise. I will take a pic of them and post it !
@happypat Yes - I do deliberately look for something now - mostly because Nigel sends an e-card out to our clients and uses one of my photos. I've used Photobox for cards a lot - I also made a birthday card for my friend who was at King's (the unbombed version of 'student') and I've made them as Thank You cards when we've been to stay somewhere using photos I've taken on the visit.
@judithg@maggiemae cos they're nice in fobi's! A proper old school hardware shop with dogs, biscuits and conversation. She even apologised and promised to get some posh ones next time....
Oh - you mean you did your own Christmas cards - I'm impressed. I did buy some very nice snowy London scenes at the shop in St Martin's in the fields last week, but I'll keep them for my friends abroad.
Would definitely love to see those Christmas cards. I used photobox for calendars last year and was very impressed with the quality. I really like this with the blur of passers by xx
Marvelous 'rainy day in Cambridge' shot...and I do see the slight rise in the walkway...but not much of a challenge to walkers. :) I'm with everyone else...would love to see a post of your Christmas cards! I know they are first rate!
Fav - This is great - I really like the Kettles yard gallery, but it was getting a bit tatty, so I'm looking forward to seeing the refurb. Can you have a look at my latest pic and identify the clocktower for me? I took so many shots that day I've forgotten where it was!
An imaginative shot - like the blurry figures capturing a sense of movement. I've got Christmas cards done with my photos for the first time this year. I usually use Photobox but tried Vistaprint, which is cheaper, and am very pleased with them.

The EV dial is very handy - I use mine all the time.
