Having been up at the crack of dawn with the dog I somehow found myself fast asleep, sitting up in bed with my Kindle on my lap at 9.30. Adam tells me that he was up doing his maths homework at 8 and decided that we looked like we needed to be left well alone. So we were a running a tad late when we dropped Adam at hockey - I took him in a bit of a rush and Nigel met me in the carpark with the dog. It looked like we were having some sort of secret assignation. Anyway the whole point was to walk Monty out towards Coton and the new 'West Cambridge' site which is the scene of much construction as they are building an 'affordable' mini town for university lecturers and staff. Gone are the days when the University staff were weathly and the townies poor. Now the big money lies with the computing and biotech industries and a whole lot of people who commute off to work in The City. And the town is ever-expanding leading to a housing shortage and escalating prices.
Three GT:
1. We diverted off to see the new University sports centre which has opened and has excellent martial arts facilities and a massive sports hall.
2. Some lovely light across the fields nearer to town (which aren't being built on - though I don't know how protected they are in the long run).
3. Got up to St Ives to see the last 60% of a game that saw a 7-0 win for City. A nasty stick-makes- contact-with-head injury - mercifully pretty rare and easily fixable with a couple of stitches - allowed Nigel to practice his first aid.
Pretty wispy seed heads made even more beautiful by the red berry background...I don't recognise the variety of them at all.
I woke early this morning cold so put the blanket back on & fell asleep until 8.15am ...ah well it is Saturday!
@happypat Exactly! I did try - had a cup of tea at 7 and listened to the end of the cricket for the day but it's been a long week! Wild clematis and rose hips in the pic I think.
Great focus and beautiful soft berries and greenery. Escalating prices force more people out of the city so commuting in gets even more horrendous - I leave earlier and earlier in the mornings now, but it took me 50 mins to do 10 miles even at 7.25 the other morning.
