I went in to town to buy a gift for a new baby who has arrived, somewhat unexpectedly, into the family. Not, you'll be pleased to know, a surprise to the mother, but she kept it pretty quiet. The wet streets were very pretty and I was a tad frustrated to find that my iPhone died just when I needed it. In exchange for a hot cheese and ham croissant Adam lent me his phone for this shot which is not as good as I'd have liked because I dropped one of my shopping bags in the puddle and somehow lost the one with the baby gift.
3 GT:
1. Lots of nice people in shops and various other places who took time out to go looking for my shopping when I called round this morning.
2. I will burn some calories cycling down later to have a look around and then try and re-buy the same outfit (it wasn't very expensive but they didn't have many of the right size and I really want the Rudolph socks!)
3. Out with the governors tonight at a new cafe called 'Afternoon Tease' and the promise of some excellent cake to reload those calories.
My friend Rebecca Patterson who writes/draws children's books has branched out in to grown up cartoons ('adult cartoons' sounds a bit dodgy!) I can highly recommend them to anybody weighed down by First World problems! http://www.rebecca-patterson-books-pictures.com/
Oh, I really hope you find your bag again or at least will be able to buy the same outfit. Would love to see it on the new baby ;). Love the golden lights here!
Rebecca's drawings are just amazing...the way she has captured the expressions& the chit chat at social functions...clever girl!
Liquid gold on the streets of Cambridge obviously!! How very frustrating losing a parcel.....do hope it turns up! Some unsuspecting baby might be wearing it at this moment!!
I know how devastating it is to lose shopping.... it's not so much the value, but the time, effort and thought that has gone into the purchase in the first place. Heidi and I went shopping shortly after second baby was born, only to have three bags (with all her shopping in) shoplifted while I was in charge of said bags and baby as she was trying on one last outfit. We were devastated (me particularly so)....
Who knew those amazing golden puddles would be the scene of such a frustrating turn of events. So sorry about your lost baby gift. :(
Love Rebecca P's fun cartoons...marvelous illustrations! Such talent!
This is lovely, Christmassy glow. I had a similar thing happen on Saturday when I hung a carrier bag (containing carefully chosen baby books for assorted small people of our acquaintance) on the buggy handles, and then didn't realise the wet, muddy, wheels were somehow flicking into the bag all afternoon - I was too sad when I discovered the state of the poor books when we finally got in!
