I got stuck into the Christmas cooking and tackled a vegetarian pie I am serving to some of our guests on Christmas Day. It was quite a task with butternut squashes to peel, slice and roast and 1kg of spinach (that's LOADS) to blanche and dry just two of the steps. It should look quite impressive though I'm worried abut experimenting on them and I don't want to find I have a Christmas Day soggy bottom in my pie so I've made a safe nut roast as well. I was just starting n a very nice glass of wine when Adam wandered in and asked for a lift to a friend's house (for 45 min later!) On the way home I realised there was a place to park to photograph Fitzbillies in the dark and I hopped out of the car to find I had the wrong lens on my camera and no iPhone. But I did swing the lens in the direction of a few students illuminated by their phones. I overcooked half the squash as a result but I couldn't fit it all in the pie anyway.
Great candid and processing. Glad you're accommodating the vegetarians. I've done a deal with a friend who will cook meat for some of my lot while I cook the veggie dish for some of hers!
I love this photo....sort of chocolatey tones & great concentration by the students. The light shining up on their faces is stunning! Fave for this too!
@dolphin That sounds like a great idea. Doing an entire veggie Christmas dinner would be easier than trying to do a dish to fit in with the normal Christmas veg I think. They include two very large sons who will be desperate for a turkey and sausage Christmas dinner though so I can't go the whole hog!
A crop along the bottom of the ladies jacket would give your shot even mor ooomph
