I got these for my birthday a few days ago. I thought they were quite pretty.
I couldn't believe how hard it was to take a photograph of these (the right lighting, and glare etc...) And I haven't been carrying my camera around for about 3 days and having to scramble for something which you end up with shots like these!
I know the scramble well. :-) Sometimes I have a hard time with a white backdrop, too. Do you have a bounce flash? That may help, but I'm certainly no expert. Happy belated birthday!
