Across the Clearing

Is this a bird hide or, perhaps, a forest fire observation post?

@vignouse We call them deer blinds. My dad sits up here to hunt deer. He has two on his property and got a nice buck this year. My folks depend on the meat to get them through the winter. :)

I'd love to build one here in my place in Sardinia, for the boars...

@domenicododaro That would be great! We have wild pigs around Michigan, and they are very dangerous. People are allowed to shoot them at any time; no season. One would be safe in a tree stand, however! :)

Cool picture.

@juliedduncan Only, trees here are not tall enough... And hunting season is very short and limited to Sundays... so we have thousands of wild pigs damaging whatever they can: vines, fields, meadows... Even my wife, who's vegetarian, ordered me to buy a gun!

@domenicododaro I empathize with you - wild pigs are the WORST. :(

Such a sense of anticipation in this image. I feel like I am waiting on the edge for a deer to appear!

@casablanca Thank you! They do quite often - just not when I'm around with a camera. :)
