Nothing "Common" Here!

This is the BIGGEST Common Snapping Turtle I've ever seen in the wild! Its shell was at least 2 feet long, and its neck was as big around as my upper arm. Scared the livin' daylights out of me! Nevertheless, I had to get right down in the swamp and take its picture. What a monstrosity!

We have turtles (wild, of course) in our spot in Sardinia, but never seen this big. Two feet is a real giant. Why did it scare you? Aren’t they shy?
