Today is Anzac Day in New Zealand and Australia, this is a Remembrance Day, commemorating the huge loss of life at Gallipoli on the 25th April 1915.. Since this date today has been marked as an annual holiday and services are held around the country.. In this image are mine and my Husbands Father's who both fought in the WWII George's Dad in the Navy and mine in the Army.. both came home but they never talked with us too much about their experience.. The Poppy has been a symbol since. In the front are my Dad's medals which he wore with pride at every Anzac service.. Both of these brave Soldiers have since past, ..
Lovely tribute shot. I was actually JUST searching newspaper archives looking for info on my Grandfather and his experience on the USS Athabaskan. It was torpedoed and he was a POW during WWII.
Such a lovely presentation of these memories, and perfect for ANZAC Day. It is amazing how many people are personally touched by relatives who have been in the war.
Wonderfully composed shot Julz........such brave men. My father never spoke of his horrendous time in WW2 either even though at 25 he was flying over Germany every night in Bomber Command. The poor man died at 57 too....not much of a life when you think about it. They were brave men all of them.
@happypat Thanks Pat, They were very brave men, Georges Dad left a wife and daughter at home and when he returned his little girl did not know him.. the Pilots flying over Germany were very brave also, we watched the Dam Busters movie on Anzac day here ..
