NIkau and Berry's

While walking in the bush yesterday I was taken with the markings on the Nikau Palms.. each 'ring' marks where a branch has broken away and the previous years flowers come out from the base.. It takes about a year for the berries to ripen after the flowers have been the previous November.. These berries are one of the favourite foods of our Native Wood Pigeon the Kereru.. Please look in my other album today for another pov of this fantastic palm..
Love it - neat composition with lines, blocks and shapes making the detail on what is essentially a monochrome image. Fav
