Far too much time on their hands.. by julzmaioro

Far too much time on their hands..

While travelling around the Hokianga last weekend we came across these knitted tree's.. I have no idea what the story is behind it, but someone has far too much time on their hands to do this 'yarn bombing'.. certainly makes a talking point as you drive through this quiet little rural town/district...
Very colorful! The trees downtown in my town also have winter coats, for whatever reason.

@razzmatazz These are summer coats.. have to go back in the winter time to see if they add to it..

@julzmaioro Yes, I guess the green leaves and grass should have given me a hint that it wasn't winter! LOL

I like these summer socks but after a few rainy days I think they wouldn't be looking as good! I can imagine Georgy boy is not impressed!

@happypat No I don't think he will be getting me to knit our tree's anytime soon..

Love it - happens lots in Wanaka - where the trees probably need scarves! Great shot.

Very colourful trunks.

Think I mght do that to my cabbage trees. Might protect them from being chewed by the alpacas

Love the title!

Haha! This is popular in Australia too. And Brisbane really doesn't get that cold...

Looks very colourful, but I don't get yarn bombing either. Surely it would be better to knit squares and put them together in a blanket and give it to a homeless or needy person. Makes a good photo though and conversation piece.

They are pretty. They do stuff like that here too but they are knitted.

@kwind There was all sorts, crochet, embroidered, and knitted ..

I quite like these knitting bomb artists! They make us smile! You have captured that well. Well composed and I rather enjoy the cow parsley in the bottom right!

@marshwader Yes I shifted over so that it could be included in the shot, but this plant is carrot weed and not wanted in good pasture.. a lot is in flower on the side of the road at the moment..

@julzmaioro I wonder if it is the same plant? What country are you in? It looks very much like cow parsley to me in the UK. The sap can be dangerous to us or dogs causing a nasty allergic reaction.

You are just jealous. I think its fun to see them decorated Nice shot!!

@marshwader I googled cow parsley and it looked similar but different. I am in new Zealand.

I've heard of this being done in other places. Livens things up I guess. :)
